SEATTLE, April 30 — Amazon has introduced a new artificial intelligence-powered hiring system designed to streamline large-scale recruitment and reduce the need for traditional face-to-face interviews.
The company unveiled the tool, called Connect Talent, as part of a broader push into AI-driven workplace automation, according to announcements made at a corporate event this week.
AI Takes on Hiring Process
The new system uses artificial intelligence to conduct preliminary job interviews, evaluate candidates and generate summaries for recruiters.
Amazon says the technology is designed to operate around the clock, allowing companies to process large volumes of applicants more quickly, particularly during peak hiring periods such as holiday seasons.
The company has historically hired hundreds of thousands of seasonal workers annually, creating demand for faster recruitment systems.
“Humorphism” AI Philosophy
Alongside the hiring tool, Amazon also introduced a design approach it calls “humorphism,” which focuses on making AI systems more natural and human-centered in their interactions.
The company says the goal is to develop technology that adapts to human workflows rather than requiring workers to adjust to machines.
Executives described the approach as an effort to make AI interactions feel more conversational and intuitive, particularly in voice-based systems.
Expansion of AI “Agents”
Amazon also highlighted its growing investment in autonomous AI systems, often referred to as “agents,” which are designed to perform tasks with minimal human input.
These systems can plan, make decisions and execute processes independently, a development that is increasingly being explored across the technology sector.
Competitors including Alphabet, OpenAI and Anthropic are also expanding work in this area.
Workforce and Efficiency Concerns
The rollout comes amid broader industry concerns about the impact of AI on employment.
Amazon has previously linked job reductions in parts of its corporate workforce to efficiency gains from automation and AI adoption.
While the company emphasizes productivity improvements, critics have raised questions about transparency, oversight and the long-term effects on hiring practices.
Supply Chain AI Expansion
Amazon also introduced a complementary tool called Connect Decisions, designed to assist with supply chain planning and data analysis.
The system aims to support decision-making by processing large datasets and providing recommendations to human planners.
As major technology companies accelerate AI integration across business operations, Amazon’s latest tools highlight how recruitment, logistics and decision-making are increasingly being reshaped by automation.
