King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla have expressed their gratitude for their first overseas visit as monarch and consort, which took them to Germany earlier this month. The royal couple posted a video montage of their trip on their official social media account, along with a personal note thanking the German people for their warm welcome.

The video compilation features clips from the royal couple’s visits to several landmarks, including the Bellevue Palace, the Komische Oper Berlin, and the St. Nikolai Memorial. The montage was soundtracked by the German version of The Beatles’ classic hit “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” titled “Komm, gib mir deine Hand.”

Over the past three days, on our first State Visit, we have been most fortunate to be with you all once more in Germany, a country which is so close to our hearts.

Thank you for such a touching and warm welcome – we hope to return again soon!

In their heartfelt message, King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to visit Germany and spend time with its people. They wrote, “Over the past three days, on our first State Visit, we have been most fortunate to have had the opportunity to be with you all once more in Germany, a country which is so close to our hearts. Thank you for such a touching and warm welcome—we hope to return again soon!”

The royal couple signed their message as “Charles R and Camilla R,” reflecting King Charles III’s official title.

King Charles III ascended to the throne following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in September 2022. This trip to Germany marks his first official visit overseas as the reigning monarch, and it was a momentous occasion for both him and Queen Consort Camilla.

The video montage shared by the royal couple highlights the joy and warmth they experienced during their visit to Germany, and it is clear that they hold the country and its people in high regard. Their message of appreciation is sure to be well-received by the German people and serves as a testament to the importance of strong diplomatic ties between nations.
