This significant update follows Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to step down from their royal duties in 2020, a move popularly referred to as “Megxit.”
The Royal Family had previously announced, “The Sussexes will not use their HRH titles as they are no longer working members of the Royal Family.” However, an oversight led to Prince Harry’s HRH title being displayed on his profile page on the British Royal Family website. This error was promptly corrected by Palace officials.
In addition to the removal of his HRH title, Prince Harry’s profile page has been repositioned on the website, now placed below the profiles of active working members of the Royal Family. This positioning change further reflects his transition away from his former royal role.
The erroneous profile page also contained a mistake in referring to Prince Harry as the youngest son of Prince William, mistakenly implying that he was Prince Louis, who is five years old. This error has since been rectified, and the accurate information now reads, “The Duke of Sussex is fifth in line to the throne and the younger son of The King and Diana, Princess of Wales.”
The website also initially referred to King Charles III and Queen Camilla as the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, their titles prior to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II last year. These oversights underscore the careful attention that must be paid to maintaining accurate and up-to-date information on official platforms.
