After Google’s Bard, ChatGPT face a new competitor from China

After Google launches its Google’ Bard, ChatGPT is ready to face China’s Baidu ChatGPT-style AI Chatbot. Baidu, which is China’s search engine giant, said on Tuesday it was developing an AI chatbot as tech giants rush to match the success of ChatGPT.

OpenAI is San Francisco-based company that introduced ChatGPT. ChatGPT seeks attention from all over the World for its ability to write, think, or program code in seconds but despite its pros, ChatGPT spreads widespread fear of cheating professionally all over the World.

Microsoft announced last month to invest billions in ChatGPT. While Google said they will introduce Bard as ChatGPT’s rival.

Along with Baidu, many Chinese firms have begun a rival to the app but Baidu will be the biggest threat to ChatGPT. The firm didn’t announce a launching date for its Chatbot, but it is set to be called “Ernie Bot”.

We are likely to complete internal testing in March before making the chatbot available to the public.”

Company spokesperson told AFP

After the announcement, Baidu’s share raised to 15 percent.

In recent years, China’s tech giant diversified into AI, autonomous driving technologies, and cloud computing as advertising revenue has remained sluggish in the face of tighter regulatory scrutiny.

While Baidu is expected to integrate its Ernie Bot into its search service which will allow users to get a conversation-style reply to their search results instead of getting links.

With no barriers to creating AI-synthesised text, audio, and video, the potential for misuse in identity theft, financial fraud and tarnish reputations has sparked global alarm.

While the Eurasia group consultancy has named AI tools as “weapons of mass disruption”.

On another hand, Beijing has warned that the use of technology similar to chatbots to create accurate digital doppelgangers will present a “danger to national security and social stability”.
