Climate change will not end the world as some assert: Elon Musk

During last week’s summit of G20, member nations highlighted the necessity for heightened measures in battling climate change. Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, opposed the prevailing report by stating that climate change will not lead to the end of the World, as some claim.

Responding to a follower who posted that 14-year-olds are being told climate change is going to demise the world as we know it and essentially nothing can be done, Musk responded that climate change certainly will not end the world as we know it.

However, “we shouldn’t be satisfied about changing the chemical constituency of our atmosphere & oceans. If people uphold trying hard, humanity will solve the bearable energy crisis in time,” Musk added.

Speaking of schools, spent time w/kids recently and – not making this up – 14 year olds are being told climate change is going to end the world as we know it and essentially nothing can be done. Literally breeding doomers. Couldn't be dumber. Who decided we should do this?

Musk had earlier encountered criticism from the scientific and agricultural communities for his claim that farming has a minor effect on climate change.

In June this year, Musk posted: “Overwhelmingly, the risk of climate change is due to shifting billions of tons of carbon from in-depth underground into the atmosphere. Over time, if we keep doing this, the chemical makeup of our atmosphere will change enough to induce meaningful climate change”.

Important to note that what happens on Earth’s surface (eg farming) has no meaningful impact on climate change.

The summit of G20 nations in the Indian capital New Delhi completed with participating countries promising to expedite their efforts in response to environmental problems, especially climate change. Further, they reaffirmed their commitment to gaining global net zero greenhouse gas emissions and carbon neutrality by or around mid-century.
