The OnePlus 12 is getting prepared to make its debut, first in China later this year and then in the international market early in 2024. We’ve had a glimpse of its specifications through leaks, and from the renders we’ve noticed, it appears like the new phone will closely correspond to its last model.
Release Date
The OnePlus 11 was released in China in January 2023 and was released globally in February. The OnePlus 10 Pro was launched in January 2022, and the OnePlus 9 series was released in March 2021.
If we look at the pattern over the previous three years, it appears that OnePlus usually releases its new phones between January and March. So, we can hope the OnePlus 12 to come out in January or February of the next year, about a year after the OnePlus 11.
There’s a leak stating that the OnePlus 12 might come out in China in December 2023 and then have an international launch in February 2024.
OnePlus 12 Features & Specifications
The OnePlus 12 has a makeover with modifications to its design. There will be new ringtones and enhanced options for customizing the lock screen. Plus, it will feature a new engine that produces the interface smoother likened to earlier versions.
Camera Specs
There’s a new rumor about the camera specs of the OnePlus 12, and it appears like the Chinese firm is making some upgrades to the camera system to assist you in clicking better pictures with every lens.
The OnePlus 12 will come with a 50-megapixel primary camera using a Sony IM966 sensor, which is larger than the one on the OnePlus 11. It also features a 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens. The most noteworthy change is the expansion of a 64-megapixel 3x periscope zoom lens from Omnivision. This marks the first time a OnePlus device will have a periscope camera.
Similar Design
While OnePlus usually modifies the design of its phones each year, it seems that the Chinese company is sticking with a similar look for the OnePlus 12.
Early renders of the OnePlus 12 show a design that’s especially the same as this year’s model, with a similar arrangement of camera modules and an LED flash. The only noteworthy change is that the Hasselblad branding has been shifted to the side.
Renowned leaker Steve ‘OnLeaks’ Hemmerstoffer, along with SmartPrix, unveiled some early renders of the OnePlus 12 on July 12. There appears to be a periscope zoom camera placed at the bottom of the camera setup. Also, this time around, there’s a punch-hole cutout right in the center of the screen. This is a change from the last left-aligned placement.
Additionally, an alert slider, a favorite feature among long-time OnePlus users, is seeable. It’s necessary to remember that these pictures are based on a prototype. They’re not the usual 3D CAD designs Hemmerstoffer typically relies on, so the final design may differ significantly.
OnePlus 12 Hardware
OnePlus is known for exceptional hardware. The OnePlus 12 is set to continue this habit with early leaks indicating it will have the strong Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. It will come with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, assuring smooth performance and plenty of space. There’s even talk of a model with an outstanding 24GB of RAM for high-performance tasks.
Battery life
Leaks indicate that the OnePlus flagship will feature a powerful 5,400mAh battery. This is notably larger than the standard 5,000mAh battery mostly found in most modern smartphones. Such a significant battery capacity will smoothly last for two full days on a single charge. Even the current 5,000mAh battery in the OnePlus 11 delivers respectable battery life.
