According to GizmoChina, Samsung is designing a ‘Galaxy Ring’ to track health status and augmented reality (AR)-powered ‘Galaxy Glasses’. The tech giant has categorized two new brand applications, one for a Galaxy Ring and the other for a pair of Galaxy Glasses, a media report added.
The forthcoming glasses could be alike the rumored Apple augmented reality (AR)/virtual reality (VR) headset.
Last week, the Korea Intellectual Property Rights Information Service (KIPRIS) granted the company the Galaxy Ring trademark. The Galaxy Ring is organized as a “smart device for estimating health indicators or sleep in the form of a ring” by the Galaxy Ring classifications.
Other than the name, the KIPRIS application revealed no other details about the approaching device.
According to the media report, the Galaxy Ring will probably scrutinize the consumer of the watch’s health and physical activities in the same way that a smartwatch does. At the Unpacked event on February 1, the tech giant announced a partnership with Qualcomm and Google to build an ecosystem for XR.
T.M. Roh, President of Samsung Electronics Mobile eXperience business, said at the event, adding that developing a new ecosystem requires collaboration with strong partners.
It will take time to introduce new products, but we will make progress and provide you with new updates.”
