The 2025 Met Gala is officially underway at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, bringing with it the year’s most anticipated and exclusive red carpet event. Known as the pinnacle of fashion, the Met Gala draws in approximately 450 elite guests, including top designers, models, stylists, and influential names from entertainment, sports, and the arts.
This year’s theme, “Tailored for You,” takes inspiration from the Costume Institute’s exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” which honors the rich history of Black fashion and dandyism, dating back to the 18th century. The theme encourages creativity and cultural expression, with stars interpreting it through a modern lens of menswear tailoring, Black heritage, and high couture.
Fashion Icons Lead the Way
Serving as co-chairs for the evening are Pharrell Williams, A$AP Rocky, Lewis Hamilton, and Colman Domingo, a diverse group that highlights the Met Gala’s growing cultural significance beyond fashion alone.
Pharrell turned heads in a custom Louis Vuitton blazer adorned with 15,000 pearls — a look that took over 400 hours to create. His wife, Helen Lasichanh, stunned in a leather corseted bodysuit also by Louis Vuitton, setting the tone for a night of fearless style.
Star-Studded Red Carpet Moments
A-listers brought their fashion A-game to the red carpet:

- Zendaya made a dramatic entrance in a custom couture creation, commanding attention from every angle.

- Gigi Hadid and JENNIE of BLACKPINK showcased their high-fashion prowess in elegant, bold gowns.

- Sydney Sweeney channeled vintage glamour in a black sequined Miu Miu gown with beaded sleeves.

- Colman Domingo paid homage to André Leon Talley with a regal Valentino cape.

- Lewis Hamilton impressed in a custom Wales Bonner ivory tuxedo featuring ancestral beadwork and garnet-hued diamonds.

- Emma Chamberlain, serving as Vogue’s red carpet correspondent, turned heads in a pinstripe suit reimagined with sheer gloves and feminine flair.
Celebrating Culture Through Fashion
Other standout attendees included Lupita Nyong’o, Ava DuVernay, Simone Biles, Diana Ross, and Teyana Taylor. Taylor’s look, designed by Marc Jacobs, featured a flowing crimson cape embroidered with “Harlem Rose” — a nod to her roots and her 2018 anthem “Rose in Harlem.”
The 2025 Met Gala isn’t just a display of haute couture — it’s a celebration of identity, culture, and history woven into each look. From tailored masterpieces to heartfelt tributes, this year’s event highlights the powerful intersection of fashion and Black excellence.
