The actor, who played Nate—the love interest of Andy Sachs, portrayed by Anne Hathaway—in the original 2006 hit film, said there was an idea to bring his character back for the sequel.

Cameo Plans Fell Apart

Grenier explained that while creative discussions were underway, the production timeline made it impossible to finalize his appearance.

According to him, the idea of reintroducing Nate was considered, but ultimately abandoned because there was not enough time left in the filming schedule to make it happen.

Director David Frankel, who also directed the original movie, reportedly confirmed that production wrapped very close to the film’s release timeline, leaving little room for additional scenes.

Actor Chooses Silence on Details

When asked what role Nate would have played in the sequel, Grenier declined to elaborate, suggesting he preferred not to reveal creative details that were never finalized.

Earlier Disappointment Over Missing Call

The actor previously expressed disappointment in not being contacted for the sequel at all, noting that he understood possible backlash surrounding his character may have influenced the decision.

Nate’s role in the original film was often debated by fans, which may have contributed to uncertainty around his return.

Other Cameos Also Reportedly Cut

Reports also suggest that Sydney Sweeney filmed a brief cameo for the sequel, but her appearance was ultimately removed during post-production due to creative decisions.

Returning Cast for the Sequel

Despite these cuts, the sequel is still set to reunite major stars from the original film, including Emily Blunt, Meryl Streep, and Stanley Tucci, alongside Anne Hathaway.

Anticipation Builds Ahead of Release

With returning favorites and behind-the-scenes changes generating buzz, anticipation remains high for the upcoming release of Devil Wears Prada 2, set to hit theaters on May 2.
