Angelina Jolie is stepping up to help those impacted by the devastating wildfires currently sweeping across California. As wildfires continue to ravage the state, particularly around Los Angeles, the 49-year-old actress has offered refuge to friends who were forced to evacuate the area.

A source revealed to PEOPLE that Jolie is “heartbroken” over the destruction caused by the wildfires, which have claimed at least 16 lives and displaced tens of thousands of residents. “She’s doing everything she can to help, even opening her home to friends who were forced to evacuate,” the source shared.

The wildfires, which started on January 7 in Pacific Palisades, have already destroyed over 10,000 structures, including homes and businesses. Fire personnel continue to battle the blazes, which have become some of the most destructive in Los Angeles’ history.

As of January 10, the fires have displaced more than 80,000 people, including several notable figures from Hollywood, such as Leighton Meester, Adam Brody, Anna Faris, and Ricki Lake. The fires have also taken a tragic toll, with 11 confirmed fire-related deaths as of January 10.

Like Jolie, many other celebrities are offering their support in the wake of the disaster. Halle Berry has partnered with Sharon Stone to donate her entire wardrobe to those affected. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have opened their Montecito home to friends and loved ones in need of shelter. Additionally, Jamie Lee Curtis and her husband Christopher Guest have pledged to donate $1 million to support those affected by the wildfires.

As the fires continue to devastate communities, the generosity and solidarity of those in Hollywood and beyond are providing a glimmer of hope in a difficult time.
