In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal published on August 20, Sweeney, 27, reflected on the playful dynamic she shared with Powell during filming.
“We wanted everything to be an activity,” she explained, noting that it was the public who “created all the other narratives.” At the time of production, Sweeney was engaged to Jonathan Davino, while Powell, 36, was dating Gigi Paris.
Despite their personal relationships, fans and media outlets speculated endlessly about a potential romance. Both actors have consistently clarified that the rumors never matched reality.
Sequel Possibilities
The movie’s success has left audiences eager for more. Sweeney hinted to E! News in February 2024 that a sequel might be in the works, teasing that she had been discussing ideas with Powell but keeping details secret:
“I can’t actually reveal all of my secrets,” she said.
