The tattoo that Prince Harry sported in the promotional clip for the upcoming Invictus Games has sparked curiosity among fans, but now the artist behind the ink has revealed the truth—it wasn’t real. Josh Lord, the owner of East Side Ink in New York City, confirmed that the tattoo featured in the video was a fake.

Speaking to People, Lord shared his excitement about being involved in the project. “This is all in honor of the Invictus Games,” he said. “When they asked me to be a part of it, I was thrilled. I had no idea I would be in the video as much as I was. It was an exciting thing to be a part of.”

Lord explained that the use of a fake tattoo was an unexpected twist. “Luckily, I have a long history with fake tattoos, and they hadn’t originally planned for that part of it, so I was able to provide a small level of assistance,” he revealed.

In addition to the tattoo, Lord was also impressed by Harry’s sense of humor. “The person who was unexpectedly the funniest was Harry,” Lord shared. “Here we are, a room full of people who have seen some things, but Harry was probably the bravest and funniest of all of us. Behind the scenes, he’s got comedic chops that I didn’t expect.”

Despite the temporary nature of the tattoo, Prince Harry’s involvement in the promotional clip for the Invictus Games continues to be a hot topic. His ability to bring humor to the set, alongside the reveal of the fake tattoo, has certainly added an unexpected layer to the anticipation surrounding the event, which will take place in Canada next year.
