Blake Lively has broken her silence after a federal judge dismissed a massive $400 million lawsuit filed against her and husband Ryan Reynolds by actor and director Justin Baldoni. The actress expressed relief and resolve in the wake of the legal victory, using her platform to raise awareness about the challenges many face in similar situations.
Taking to Instagram Stories, Lively shared a heartfelt message, reflecting on the emotional toll of the legal battle. “Like so many others, I’ve experienced the pain of a retaliatory lawsuit and the shame that’s often used to try and silence us,” she wrote. “While the case against me was thrown out, many people don’t have the means or support to defend themselves.”

The Gossip Girl star emphasized her continued commitment to advocating for women’s rights, particularly in cases involving safety and personal dignity. “I’m more determined than ever to stand up for every woman’s right to speak out and protect themselves—their safety, their dignity, and their stories matter,” she stated.
Lively also took a moment to thank those who supported her throughout the legal ordeal. “To everyone who stood by me—whether I know you personally or not—thank you. I’ll never stop appreciating or standing up for you,” she added. She also highlighted several organizations offering support and resources for women facing harassment and abuse.
The court decision came from Judge Lewis J. Liman, who dismissed Baldoni’s countersuit alleging defamation and extortion. The judge also rejected Baldoni’s separate $250 million defamation case against The New York Times. Lively’s legal team called the outcome a “complete victory,” stating that the lawsuit was baseless from the start. “This $400 million lawsuit was a sham, and the court recognized that clearly,” they said in a statement.
Lively’s attorneys also confirmed they plan to seek legal fees and additional damages from Baldoni and his affiliated companies. However, Baldoni’s legal team still has until June 23 to revise and refile claims related to breach of implied covenant and interference with contracts.
Meanwhile, Blake Lively’s original lawsuit against Baldoni—which includes allegations of sexual harassment and retaliation—remains active. Baldoni has denied the allegations. The case is expected to go to trial in March 2026.
As the legal proceedings continue, Lively’s message stands as a powerful reminder of the importance of using one’s voice—and the strength it takes to do so under public scrutiny.
