Bridgerton has shared exciting updates about the upcoming season four, especially surrounding the dynamic between Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan). The latest photos posted on Instagram give fans a glimpse into their evolving relationship after a turbulent season three.
In the previous season, the bond between Eloise and Penelope was severely tested when Eloise discovered that Penelope had been secretly writing as Lady Whistledown. Things took a dramatic turn when Eloise’s brother, Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton), got engaged to Penelope, prompting Eloise to threaten exposing Penelope’s secret to Colin. However, by the end of the season, Penelope took matters into her own hands and revealed her true identity as Lady Whistledown, while Eloise decided to travel to Scotland with Francesca (Hannah Dodd).

Now, as season four approaches, Bridgerton has teased a possible revival of the once-close friendship between Eloise and Penelope. In a carousel post on Instagram, the two characters are shown smiling warmly at each other, suggesting that their strained relationship may have softened. Jess Brownell, the showrunner for season four, confirmed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that the pair’s friendship will be stronger than ever.
“They’re more bonded than ever!” Brownell said. “Their trials and tribulations last season have added new depth to their friendship, and we’re excited for viewers to see how their relationship looks now that they’ve each grown up a little.”

Season four will also introduce new characters, including the Li sisters, Rosamund (Michelle Mao) and Posy (Isabella Wei), who are step-sisters to Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha). Brownell shared more details about their personalities, explaining, “Rosamund has become her mother (Araminta Gun, played by Katie Leung) mini-me, a marriage mart pro chess player, while Posy is dreamy and often unserious, much to her mother’s disapproval.”
The lead storyline for season four will follow Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), who falls for Sophie, the third Li sister, after she charms him at the Bridgerton masquerade ball, disguised as a mysterious woman in silver.
While fans eagerly await the return of Bridgerton, the show has not yet confirmed an official premiere date for season four, though it is expected to debut sometime in 2026. With all the drama, romance, and intrigue that fans have come to expect, Bridgerton promises to deliver another unforgettable season.
