Nicki Minaj and her husband Kenneth Petty are facing renewed legal trouble after a man awarded a six-figure judgment against them has taken steps to collect the money owed.
Court documents obtained by Us Weekly reveal that Thomas Weidenmuller, who was granted a $503,000 default judgment earlier this year, has placed a levy on Minaj’s 11-bedroom, 16-bathroom mansion in Hidden Hills, California. The nearly 12,000-square-foot property is now under claim as part of Weidenmuller’s attempt to recover the debt.
Levy Placed on Minaj’s Mansion
According to filings dated October 17, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department officially placed the levy on September 16. A levy allows a creditor to claim proceeds from a property if it is sold.
Weidenmuller filed a motion on October 6 requesting court approval to sell the mansion, and served Minaj with notice on October 16. Bank of America, which holds the mortgage, was also notified. The property, valued at approximately $20 million, has a $13 million mortgage, meaning any remaining funds could go toward satisfying the judgment.
Background of the Lawsuit
The lawsuit originates from an alleged altercation during one of Minaj’s concerts in Germany, where Weidenmuller worked as a security guard. He claimed that when a fan rushed the stage, Minaj became upset, and later, in her dressing room, Petty allegedly struck him, causing serious injuries including a broken jaw that required multiple surgeries.
Minaj and Petty failed to respond to the lawsuit, resulting in the default judgment in March 2024. Weidenmuller has since moved to have the property sold to recover the amount owed.
Minaj Responds
On October 15, Minaj addressed the legal developments on X (formerly Twitter), suggesting a former business manager failed to communicate details of the case. She wrote:
“I have evidence that this was given to a business [manager] who never told me. My lawyers AND business [managers] (old & new) are AWARE. Let’s see if they’ll speak up or if I’ll have to call them out by name. That same business [manager] STOLE from me MANY times.”
The legal case remains ongoing as Weidenmuller continues efforts to collect the judgment from the rapper and her husband.
