Cardi B Unveils Initial Met Gala Plan: ‘Old Age’ Transformation Was Part of the Look

Cardi B made a striking appearance at the 2024 Met Gala, opting for a black gown with a dramatic train that turned heads. Surprisingly, this ensemble was a scaled-back version of her original plan.

The 31-year-old rapper shared on TikTok that she initially intended to attend the event dressed as an elderly woman, complete with prosthetics to alter her appearance. In a behind-the-scenes video, Cardi B is shown in a robe and headscarf while makeup artist Alexis Stone applies prosthetics to her arms and hands to create the aged look. The transformation included slippers, an altered face, and curly gray hair, aligning with the gala’s “Garden of Time” theme quite literally.

However, Cardi B decided against the prosthetic transformation at the last moment, citing concerns about how the photos would turn out. In another TikTok post, she explained, “I was just a little bit scared how the pictures were gonna come out. A lot of people, they’re not creative like me. We think outside the box.”

For the gala, the Bodack Yellow singer wore a stunning gown designed by Windowsen. She praised the dress as “such a beautiful amazing piece,” likening it to a “black rose.” However, she noted the gown’s significant weight, which made her eager to remove it.

Despite her overall satisfaction with the gown, Cardi B expressed disappointment, revealing, “Actually it was supposed to be bigger. I’m mad at the Met Gala because they made me cut my dress!”
