Doja Cat is stepping up to support her home state of California amid the devastating wildfires that continue to ravage Los Angeles. On January 13, the Grammy-winning rapper announced an exciting collaboration with the American Red Cross, unveiling a special line of merchandise designed to aid relief efforts for those affected by the ongoing fires.
The 29-year-old artist shared the news with her followers on Instagram, urging them to help raise funds for California. “Please help me and @americanredcross support my beautiful state of California,” Doja wrote, alongside images of the new collection designed in partnership with artist Pini.
The merchandise includes T-shirts and hoodies in soothing shades of blue and gray, featuring artwork that depicts Doja either embracing the state of California or riding its outline like a surfboard. These designs aim to capture the spirit of the state while also providing much-needed support to those struggling in the wake of the fires.
The fires, which started on January 7 in Pacific Palisades, have burned over 38,500 acres, leaving tens of thousands of people displaced and at least 24 dead, as reported by CNN. The destruction has also impacted many homes, including those of well-known celebrities like Mandy Moore, Jhené Aiko, and Tina Knowles.
One of the most poignant losses to Doja Cat was Malibu’s Harbor Studios, where she recorded her 2023 album Scarlet. The studio, known as a creative sanctuary for artists, was confirmed to have been destroyed in the fires by its owner, Zach Brandon.
In a bid to provide ongoing support to the relief efforts, Doja’s merchandise collection is now available for purchase online. All of the proceeds from the sales will go directly to the American Red Cross, helping fund their efforts to support those affected by the wildfires.
This collaboration highlights Doja Cat’s dedication to using her platform for good and offering tangible assistance to those in need during this challenging time.
