Dua Lipa’s Easter celebration took an unexpected turn after fans criticized her for a controversial moment shared on social media.
Last week, the Levitating singer posted a series of holiday photos featuring highlights from her beach getaway with fiancé Callum Turner. Among the joyful snapshots and videos, one particular image drew heavy backlash: a picture of Dua holding a starfish she had lifted from the water.

The photo quickly triggered concern among fans, who accused the Grammy-winning artist of endangering marine life.
“The starfish probably died just for a photo [sad emoji],” one user commented.
Another fan added, “I love you, Dua, but not with the starfish [disappointed face emoji].”
More critical responses followed, with one writing, “Everything was perfect until you killed the starfish just for a picture [unamused emoji].”
Another exclaimed, “NOOO! Starfish die if you take them out of the water!”
Several followers also offered gentle advice, warning that starfish are extremely delicate creatures.
“Even a few seconds out of the water can be fatal to them,” one explained. “The best way to appreciate starfish is by observing them in their natural habitat without touching or moving them.”
It seems likely that Dua Lipa, 29, was unaware of the potential harm caused by removing starfish from the water, leading to a misstep that disappointed some fans.
Despite the backlash, many continue to show support for the singer, hoping the incident raises more awareness about protecting marine life.
