Eminem’s camp has addressed the recent leak of several unreleased tracks from his vault, including the song Smack You, which has caused significant buzz due to its controversial lyrics.
Over the past few weeks, a series of previously unheard songs from the rapper have surfaced on social media. One track, Smack You, has garnered attention for its pointed accusations against Suge Knight, the notorious former Death Row Records mogul. In the song, Eminem raps, “I’m holding Suge responsible for the deaths of the two greatest rappers to ever grace the face of this planet,” seemingly referring to the murders of Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls.
Suge Knight, who was in the car with Tupac the night of his fatal shooting, has consistently denied any involvement in either Tupac’s or Biggie’s death. He was previously investigated by the FBI in connection with Biggie’s murder, but no charges have ever been brought against him.
Smack You is just one of over 30 unreleased tracks that have recently leaked, along with collaborations featuring 50 Cent, Dr. Dre, Anderson .Paak, and the late Nate Dogg. The collection also includes a diss track aimed at Ja Rule, generating further excitement and speculation among fans.
In response to the leaks, Eminem’s spokesperson, Dennis Dennehy, spoke to Billboard, stating, “These leaked songs were studio efforts never meant for public consumption… demos, experiments, and ideas that are dated and not relevant so many years later. This is yet another case of unfinished material being released against artists’ will and without their permission.”
Producer Fredwreck, who is affiliated with Aftermath, issued a now-deleted warning to the person responsible for the leaks, saying, “We will find you,” via HipHopDX.
Though Eminem has yet to publicly comment on the situation, the leaked tracks have continued to generate excitement online. Fans of the rapper have eagerly shared their thoughts on the unreleased material, with some expressing interest in hearing the old songs, while others remain concerned about the integrity of the music being released without the artist’s consent.
As the leaks continue to make waves, it’s clear that the controversy surrounding them is far from over.
