Ethan Slater, the talented Broadway star, recently made headlines as he stood in unity with the members of SAG-AFTRA during a picket outside a Warner Bros. building in New York City. This powerful display of support was captured on Monday, where Slater was seen holding a sign that boldly declared, “SAG-AFTRA ON STRIKE!” He also wore a matching T-shirt, showcasing his commitment to the cause.
At the age of 31, Slater brought his unique style to the picket line, wearing predominantly black attire, which included a hoodie, loose-fitting slacks, and a baseball cap. With a coffee cup in one hand and a white tote bag slung casually over his shoulder, he made a striking presence.
Notably, Slater’s girlfriend, pop sensation Ariana Grande, was absent from the scene. Their relationship had been confirmed by PEOPLE back in July.
The couple’s romantic journey began while working together as co-stars in the Broadway production of “Wicked.” Their relationship unfolded following Grande’s separation from her husband, Dalton Gomez, and Slater’s separation from his wife, Lilly Jay, with whom he shares a child.
Ariana Grande, aged 30, finalized her divorce from Gomez, 28, earlier this month, following her divorce filing in September. They had exchanged their vows in May 2021. Throughout the divorce proceedings, both Grande and Gomez displayed a level of respect and consideration toward one another.
In contrast, Slater filed for divorce in New York at the end of July, shortly after his relationship with Ariana Grande became public. The specific reasons behind his separation from Lilly Jay, whom he married in the fall of 2018, were not disclosed.
Following Slater’s divorce filing, Jay spoke out about her estranged husband’s relationship with Grande, emphasizing her focus on being a “good mom” to their child amidst the divorce.
Regarding the relationship between Grande and Slater, a friend of the couple clarified that their romance had been somewhat misconstrued in the public eye. They were simply navigating their newfound love story in a private and meaningful way.
In September, images surfaced of Grande and Slater enjoying a visit to a Disney Park, marking one of their initial public appearances as a couple. Sources close to Grande described them as very happy and a great match for one another.
Currently, Ethan Slater is in the midst of rehearsals for the Broadway revival of “Spamalot,” which is set to open on October 31, adding another exciting chapter to his already illustrious career.
