Gal Gadot, renowned for her role as Wonder Woman, has recently unveiled how her iconic superhero character played a pivotal role in motivating her to pursue female-led action movies. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly ahead of the SAG-AFTRA strike, the star of “Red Notice” shared her perspective on breaking new ground in the world of action cinema.

Gadot highlighted the legacy of male-led action films such as “Bond,” “Mission: Impossible,” “Bourne Identity,” and “Die Hard,” expressing admiration for their excellence. However, she always sensed a need for more opportunities for women to take the lead in the action genre.

The actress, who embodied Wonder Woman in the 2017 film, had an enlightening realization after the experience. She recognized that women could not only create but also headline action-packed films that would resonate with male audiences in theaters.

Gadot recalled her “aha!” moment, stating, “I was like, ‘Wait a second, men go to see women-led action films too. We can make more, so let’s do it’.”

This newfound confidence and perspective fueled Gadot’s decision to embark on new projects that put women at the forefront. It became a driving force behind the development of “Heart of Stone,” a thrilling Netflix movie.

Collaborating with her husband Jaron Varsano through their production company Pilot Wave, Gadot shared her aspiration to tell a story from a genuine female perspective. She aimed to present the journey of a real person navigating a compelling narrative, all the while challenging conventional expectations.

The upcoming Netflix film, “Heart of Stone,” promises electrifying stunts and riveting action sequences. Gadot emphasized that the movie posed the most significant challenge she has encountered in her career, requiring rigorous preparation, training, and dedication.

Months of intense physical training, choreography learning, and strenuous workouts culminated in what Gadot described as a demanding undertaking. The actress approached the role with dedication, embracing the opportunity to delve into a complex and physically demanding character.

Set to debut on Netflix on August 11, “Heart of Stone” will showcase Gal Gadot alongside Jamie Dornan and Bollywood sensation Alia Bhatt. The film not only promises exhilarating action but also signifies Gadot’s commitment to empowering women in the world of entertainment, echoing the spirit of her iconic portrayal of Wonder Woman.
