Hailey Bieber recently shared the emotional and difficult journey she faced during the birth of her first child, Jack Bieber, in August 2024. In a heartfelt interview with Vogue, the model and Rhode founder revealed that despite preparing herself physically for childbirth, her labor was far more challenging than she anticipated.
Describing the experience, Hailey said, “Giving birth was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.” She went on to explain that her labor lasted several hours without an epidural or any pain relief. “They broke my water. I went into labour and I laboured for a few hours. No epidural, nothing,” she recounted.

The ordeal did not end there. Hailey disclosed that 18 hours after giving birth, she suffered a postpartum hemorrhage, which she described as “a little bit scary.” Despite the frightening situation, she expressed deep trust in her medical team, stating, “I trust my doctor with my life. And so, I had peace that I knew she would never let anything happen to me.”
She shared the intense emotions she felt during the hemorrhage, admitting, “I was bleeding really badly, and people die, and the thought crosses your mind.”
Beyond the physical challenges, Hailey opened up about the emotional toll of postpartum life. She described this period as “the most sensitive time I’ve ever gone through in my life,” struggling to adjust to a “new version” of herself. Adding to the difficulty was the constant public scrutiny and rumors about her marriage to Justin Bieber. “To be doing that all the while going on the internet every day and people being like, ‘They’re getting divorced’ and ‘They’re not happy’… I cannot even begin to explain it. It’s a crazy life to live,” Hailey shared candidly.
At 28, Hailey Bieber’s vulnerability in sharing her story offers a powerful insight into the realities many new mothers face—balancing physical pain, emotional upheaval, and the pressure of public attention. Her honesty encourages others to speak openly about postpartum struggles and seek support during this critical time.
