Prince William, who married Kate Middleton in 2011 after a decade-long relationship, had a carefully thought-out reason for delaying their wedding, as revealed by a royal expert.
In a recent appearance on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show, former royal photographer Arthur Edwards shared a conversation he once had with Prince William about his decision to wait until he was 30 to marry.
“I asked William why he wasn’t getting married sooner,” Edwards recalled. “He said, ‘Because I have to go to the army. One day I’ll be head of the armed forces, so I have to serve in the army, then the Navy, then the Air Force, and the Marines. After all of that, I need to attend business school. There’s just no time before that.’”
The candid explanation highlighted how William’s dedication to his future responsibilities shaped his personal choices. Edwards also revealed that the delay was not only about completing his obligations but also about ensuring his marriage was built on solid ground.
“William told me that the reason he and Kate took their time getting engaged was because he wanted to be sure their marriage would last forever,” Edwards shared.
