Justin Baldoni’s lawyer has hit back at Blake Lively’s recent remarks regarding the ongoing defamation lawsuit filed by the Jane the Virgin actor.
Baldoni, who is suing Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds for defamation, claims that they falsely portrayed him in a smear campaign. In response to Lively’s comments, Baldoni’s legal team, led by Bryan Freedman, issued a strong rebuttal, calling her statement a “heinous pivot” in an already contentious legal battle.
“After my clients filed a comprehensive lawsuit, packed with almost 200 pages of undeniable facts and documentary evidence, which refuted their false allegations of a smear campaign, Blake and her team have just one heinous tactic left: doubling down on the revoltingly false sexual allegations against Mr. Baldoni,” Freedman said, according to Deadline.
Freedman further criticized Lively for attempting to publicly damage Baldoni’s reputation while denying him the opportunity to defend himself. “The mere fact that Ms. Lively feels she can publicly destroy Mr. Baldoni’s reputation in an attempt to devastate his future career and then deny him or his team their right to defend themselves is preposterous,” he stated.
In his response, Freedman claimed that Baldoni had never publicly accused Lively of wrongdoing during filming. Despite disagreeing with some of her concerns, Baldoni addressed them in an appropriate manner. “He kindly addressed all her concerns during filming, even though he wholly disagreed, and he remained committed to doing things differently,” Freedman explained.
The legal team is now doubling down on its commitment to defend Baldoni against what they see as Lively’s “self-serving and selfish vendetta” in the media. Freedman added, “We will now fight even harder for the voiceless in the domestic violence community, who are unfairly suffering as she continues to push her own agenda.”
The ongoing lawsuit continues to fuel tensions between the parties, with both sides asserting their claims and preparing for what is likely to be a long and complex legal battle.
