The latest superhero movie, “Blue Beetle,” to strike North America’s movie theaters and the first created around a live-action Latino protagonist.

The production of DC Studios/Warner Bros. topped the Worldwide charts for the Friday-through-Sunday time and even beat “Barbie,” Exhibitor Relations, industry watcher said on Sunday.

But the “Blue Beetle” movie’s estimated net of $25.4 million was “the lowest DC superhero debut of this era” other than 2021’s “Wonder Woman 1984.”

Xolo Mariduena, the 22-year-old actor of “Beetle”, who is of mixed Ecuadoran, Mexican, Cuban, and descent, is a new college graduate whose body is taken over by the bizarre Scarab, which provides him superhuman abilities.

“Beetle” movie’s ticket sales were only a third of the average for new superhero movies, thoughts have been good and overseas possibilities are vital, the analyst, David A. Gross said.

According to Variety, in the “Barbie” movie’s fifth week, it earned $21.5 million in ticket sales, which is a tremendous outcome at this point in its surprising run.
