A new documentary claims that Queen Consort Camilla used private jets to meet King Charles III while he was on official overseas visits in the 90s, according to reports. The alleged flights reportedly took place while Prince Harry and William’s father was still married to their mother Princess Diana, while Camilla was wedded to Andrew Parker Bowles.
The claims were made by Charles’ former personal pilot Squadron Leader Graham Laurie, who has flown over 2,000 Royal flights. According to Laurie, the romantic meet-ups between Charles and Camilla were kept under wraps by the press.
Speaking to the documentary makers, Laurie said: “They were getting together overseas but the Press didn’t cotton on. As regards Camilla, I didn’t ever fly her but we did see her involvement in certain trips when we went abroad. There would be a civilian charter aircraft on the tarmac before we got there and it was still there when we left. I found out afterwards that actually Camilla had flown in and out on that aircraft.”
The documentary also claims that Laurie did not know who paid for Camilla’s flights. According to sources at US broadcaster Paramount, a minimum of one flight was allegedly made in 1994.
The alleged use of private jets for these meet-ups is sure to reignite public scrutiny over the relationship between Camilla and Charles, which has been a topic of controversy and fascination for decades. The couple married in 2005, eight years after the death of Diana in a car crash in Paris.
The new revelations come as the British Royal Family has already been under increased scrutiny over the past year due to the fallout from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which they alleged racism within the family and a lack of support for mental health issues.
