Every year, October 3rd is a special day for “Mean Girls” enthusiasts, and this year, Paramount Pictures made it even more memorable. In celebration of Mean Girls Day, the studio launched an official TikTok account dedicated to the iconic film, and they had a surprise in store. Paramount Pictures generously made the entire one hour and 47-minute movie available for free on the platform, breaking it into 23 conveniently digestible clips.
The official “Mean Girls” TikTok account welcomes visitors with the playful phrase, “Get in loser, we’re going shopping,” echoing one of the film’s most famous lines. Mean Girls Day has become a beloved tradition among fans of the 2004 classic because of a memorable scene where Aaron Samuels, portrayed by Jonathan Bennett, asks Cady Heron, played by Lindsay Lohan, for the date, and her response, “It’s Oct. 3,” quickly became iconic.
For those who prefer to watch movies in a more traditional way, “Mean Girls” is readily available on Paramount+ and can also be enjoyed for free on YouTube, with occasional ads. Additionally, the film is available for purchase on popular digital video platforms such as Amazon and Apple iTunes. The TikTok account even provides links to Paramount’s website, where fans can find retailers offering DVD, Blu-ray, and digital versions of “Mean Girls.”
Co-starring and written by the talented Tina Fey, “Mean Girls” boasts an ensemble cast featuring Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, Lacey Chabert, Lizzy Caplan, Daniel Franzese, and Amy Poehler.
The plot of this beloved teen classic revolves around Cady Heron, who, after spending her earlier years in Africa with her zoologist parents, faces the challenges of high school. There, she becomes entangled with the popular girls known as The Plastics, led by the cool and unrelenting Regina George, played by Rachel McAdams. “What follows is a treasure trove of sharp, witty humor that defined a generation, inspired a hit Broadway musical, and popularized countless catchphrases,” as described by the studio.
In addition to this delightful Mean Girls Day surprise, Paramount is set to release a musical adaptation of “Mean Girls,” based on the successful Broadway production, in theaters on January 12, 2024. This highly anticipated film stars Reneé Rapp, Angourie Rice, Jaquel Spivey, and Auli’i Cravalho, with Reneé Rapp reprising her role as Regina George from the stage production.
