The sudden death of prominent businessman Sunjay Kapur—a close associate of Prince William—is facing new scrutiny after his mother raised serious concerns, alleging possible foul play.
Sunjay Kapur, 53, reportedly died from a fatal heart attack after swallowing a bee during a polo match at the Old Guards Polo Club in Surrey on June 12. Initially ruled a tragic accident possibly linked to anaphylactic shock, the incident is now at the center of a growing controversy.
Kapur, an American citizen of Indian origin and chairman of automotive giant Sona Comstar, was well-known in elite polo circles and had previously shared the field with the Prince of Wales.
However, his mother, Rani Kapur, is now challenging the initial explanation of his death. In a formal letter addressed to UK authorities, she has demanded a full criminal investigation, citing newly discovered information that suggests her son’s death may not have been due to natural causes.

“Since the date of his death, I have come into possession of records and have come across facts which point to prima facie forged legal and financial documents, dubious asset transfers, and suspicious legal filings,” she claimed in her letter, as reported by Express.
Rani Kapur is calling for international involvement in the investigation, urging agencies from the UK, India, and the US to work together to uncover what she describes as a “coordinated transnational conspiracy.”
“There are also compelling reasons to believe that his death may have been facilitated or orchestrated,” she added, suggesting coercion or collusion by individuals who may have stood to gain financially from his untimely passing.
Despite the initial medical reports attributing Sunjay’s death to a rare reaction to a bee sting, the new allegations have cast a shadow over what was believed to be a freak accident. Authorities have yet to respond publicly to the renewed demands for investigation.
As the case gains international attention, the pressure is mounting on UK law enforcement to re-examine the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of a well-connected business leader and friend of British royalty.
