A security guard who worked at a Taylor Swift concert was dismissed from his job after a video of him singing along to the artist’s live performance went viral on social media. Calvin Denker, an employee of BEST, a security company, took to TikTok to share his experience of being let go from his position.

Denker took to TikTok to explain that he had been let go from his position and elaborated on the circumstances leading to his dismissal. He mentioned, “Furthermore, the HR representative who contacted me couldn’t precisely explain the nature of my alleged wrongdoing, as my actions were limited to requesting photographs.”

The incident began when a video made rounds online, in which Denker admitted that he had applied for the security guard position with the hope of being able to attend one of Taylor Swift’s concerts. However, upon getting hired, Denker discovered that the security company had a policy that prohibited employees from taking photos or videos while on the job.

To navigate around this restriction, Denker came up with a creative approach. During Swift’s concert in Minneapolis, he passed notes to concertgoers, requesting them to take photos of him with Taylor Swift in the background. This act was captured in a video that quickly went viral.

Denker explained that this video, which showcased his interaction with fans during the concert, resulted in his termination. He stated that he was open about his actions, including passing the notes, during discussions with his employer.

Denker expressed his willingness to save his job by deleting his TikTok account, but he claimed that the company did not respond to his efforts.

“I refrained from using my personal phone, prioritizing the safety of Taylor Swift and ensuring that all the fans enjoyed themselves,” Denker affirmed. Despite the setback of losing my job, I had the chance to work at an incredibly memorable concert, not just once but on two occasions,” he remarked.

Denker concluded by saying that he holds no ill feelings toward his employer, indicating that he understands the circumstances of his dismissal. The incident highlights the growing influence of social media and how viral content can have unexpected consequences in various professional settings.
