Selena Gomez has stepped forward to set the record straight regarding recent rumors of a feud with Dua Lipa, a situation that arose when Gomez accidentally unfollowed the singer on Instagram in June.
In a recent interview with Fast Company, Gomez addressed the matter head-on, explaining that the unfollow was a mere mishap that occurred during routine Instagram housekeeping. She exclaimed, “It was an accident!” Further elaborating, she added, “I was just cleaning up some of my Instagram. Then somebody called me and was like, ‘What happened with Dua?!'”
Eager to dispel any feud rumors, the 31-year-old singer took swift action by posting a photo of herself adorned in a polka-dot and butterfly-print dress from Dua Lipa’s Versace capsule collection. In the caption, she playfully referred to it as “A little Versace/Dua moment.”
In response to this gesture of support, 28-year-old Dua Lipa warmly expressed her gratitude in the comments, affectionately calling Gomez an “angeeeeeeeel!!!!” accompanied by heart-eye emojis.
While Selena Gomez has since re-followed Dua Lipa on Instagram, she has chosen not to re-follow other celebrities whom she had previously unfollowed, including Zayn Malik, Gigi Hadid, and Bella Hadid.
The reasoning behind her unfollowing of Gigi Hadid remains a mystery, despite the initial connection between the two through their mutual friend, Taylor Swift.
As for Bella Hadid, the unfollowing occurred in the aftermath of both having relationships with The Weeknd. Despite this, Gomez publicly expressed her admiration for Bella Hadid, referring to her as a “girl crush” in a TikTok video in February. However, Bella chose not to publicly respond to the declaration.
