“I was also going to point out that women have it much worse,” Gomez, 32, stated.

She elaborated on how women are subjected to intense criticism, saying, “It’s pretty wild, and I think this isn’t news to anybody. Women deal with much more pressure—whether it’s about their appearance, their outfits, or just about everything.”

How Online Criticism Affects Her Public Appearances

The Emilia Pérez actress admitted that social media backlash has influenced her confidence when attending public events.

“When I prepare for an event, 90% of the time, I just think, ‘I hope I can take the picture and sit down,’” she confessed, highlighting how overwhelming the pressure can be.

She also opened up about feeling judged for her identity.

“It’s the way I’m perceived—whether I’m not white enough or not Mexican enough,” she said, addressing the constant scrutiny over her background.

Gomez also reflected on how men rarely face the same level of personal criticism.

“The choices of people you date… it’s like nobody cares about those things when it comes to men,” she pointed out.

The singer and actress then touched on the ongoing commentary about her weight, acknowledging the emotional toll it takes.

“My weight is a big one… Everyone always has something to say. It’s really upsetting—not because I see myself as a victim, but because it still gets to me,” she admitted.

Expressing her frustration, Gomez added, “I just think it’s made me a tad bitter. I feel really guilty for saying that, but it’s the truth.”

Despite the negativity, Gomez continues to advocate for self-love and mental well-being, using her platform to encourage kindness in an often critical digital world.
