Shawn Mendes recently shared his thoughts on his relationship with ex-girlfriend Camila Cabello, reflecting on their deep connection despite not being as close in recent years. In a candid interview with Apple Music 1, the “Mercy” singer revealed that he and Camila truly understand each other, even though their relationship has evolved.
“We really know each other,” Shawn said during the conversation, adding, “We haven’t been the closest over the last couple of years, but I think we really know each other.” He emphasized the emotional bond they share, saying, “We’ve spent a lot of time together. We really know each other’s hearts. So even when all of the sound and all the noise is happening, we can see through each other’s both pretty easily, and it’s just nice to have that.”
Shawn and Camila first formed a friendship that eventually turned into a romantic relationship in 2019. The two were together for nearly two years before parting ways in 2021. Their bond was rekindled briefly at Coachella in April 2023, but that reunion ended in June of the same year.
Despite the ups and downs in their relationship, Shawn emphasized the lasting connection they share. “We really know each other,” he reiterated, underscoring how the understanding between them remains intact.
