Ryan Murphy’s popular Netflix series “Monster” will return for a second season, and this time it will be focusing on the infamous case of the Menéndez brothers. The Menéndez brothers, Lyle and Erik, were convicted of the murder of their parents, José and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menéndez in 1996.
The murder occurred on August 20, 1989, when the Menéndez brothers shot their parents to death in their Beverly Hills home. The brothers confessed to the crime and claimed that their actions were motivated by years of mental and sexual abuse by their parents.
The Menéndez brothers’ case has been the subject of several documentaries and scripted projects, including NBC’s “Law & Order: True Crime – The Menéndez Murders”. However, with Ryan Murphy’s “Monster” series, the case will be explored in a different and unique way.
The first season of “Monster” focused on the notorious serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, and it was a massive hit for Netflix, becoming one of only four series to reach 1 billion view hours in its first 60 days. Evan Peters, who played Dahmer, also won a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Limited Series.
With the success of the first season, expectations are high for the upcoming season, which will undoubtedly bring a fresh perspective to the Menéndez brothers’ case. No release date has been announced yet, but fans of the series are eagerly anticipating its return.
