In a recent episode of the podcast Class of ‘88, Hollywood actor Will Smith reminisced about his apprehensive attempt at dating Sandra Denton, also known as Pepa of Salt-N-Pepa, before marrying Jada Pinkett Smith. Smith confessed to being “terrified” during the late 80s when he finally had the chance to take Sandra out.

Despite harboring an infatuation for years, Smith found himself single at the same time as Sandra. Eager to impress her, he rented a white Mercedes convertible, aiming to make a lasting impression on the Jamaican rapper.
Reflecting on the experience, Smith revealed, “I was always in this full-on, trying to give the wildest flavor of having game, but that might have been the most terrified I had ever been trying to shoot my shot with Pepa. And I didn’t believe I had a real shot.”
Sandra Denton also recalled the memorable date, highlighting Smith’s generosity when he gave $100 to a homeless person. Despite the date not leading to a romantic connection, the pair remained friends. Will Smith went on to marry Jada Pinkett Smith in 1997, while Sandra Denton was in a relationship with rapper Treach from 1999 to 2001.
