Zack Snyder is forging his own narrative universe at Netflix with “Rebel Moon,” and the renowned filmmaker has meticulously crafted 800 years of franchise lore.
Staz Nair, the movie’s lead actor, shared insights into Zack Snyder’s vision for the franchise during an interview with ComicBook. Nair revealed that Snyder’s approach began with a strong visual foundation, emphasizing, “I’m a visual learner, which is wonderful. I mean he [Zack Snyder]… has a kind of – not just a bible, but an 800-year lore, where he has visual kind of renderings of the whole movie.”
Continuing, Nair explained, “So it started off by showing me every world; what they were inspired by; how they felt, how they looked, and it’s amazing to see how similar his renderings are… similar to the world he’s created.”
While “Rebel Moon” has received mixed reviews on Netflix, critics have applauded Zack Snyder’s remarkable visual themes while expressing reservations about the sci-fi plot. Owen Gleiberman, in a review for Variety, described the film as “eminently watchable” but noted that it might primarily appeal to Snyder cultists due to its construction from various cinematic elements.
