Zendaya and Tom Holland may have kept their romance under wraps in the early days, but those who worked alongside them noticed their undeniable chemistry long before the world caught on.
According to K.C. Undercover star Tammy Townsend, Zendaya’s relationship with Holland quietly blossomed while she was filming the Disney Channel series alongside Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017. Reflecting on the show’s 10th anniversary, Townsend shared her behind-the-scenes perspective on their budding romance.
“I knew it was serious,” Townsend, 54, told People magazine. “Tom would just come through and see what we were doing.”
Townsend, who played Zendaya’s mother on K.C. Undercover, revealed that while the couple kept things discreet, their connection was undeniable. “We definitely knew there was something strong between them,” she said, adding that Holland was “a really cool kid.”
Trinitee Stokes, who played Zendaya’s on-screen little sister, also recalled Holland frequently visiting the set. “He’s so funny,” the 18-year-old said. “I love Tom, and it’s been amazing to watch their relationship grow because he’s such a great guy.”
Although Zendaya and Holland initially denied dating rumors in 2017, their low-profile romance eventually became public in 2021 when they were spotted sharing a kiss. Holland later confirmed their relationship on Instagram, calling Zendaya “my MJ,” to which she lovingly responded by referring to him as “my Spider-Man.”
Fast forward to 2025, and the couple is now engaged—a milestone that Townsend and Stokes say was always meant to be.
With years of friendship, love, and unwavering support, Zendaya and Holland’s relationship remains one of Hollywood’s most beloved modern love stories.
