China considers the crisis in Gaza as “very serious”, with the threat of a large-scale ground battle rising and the outlook “worrisome” as armed clashes along neighboring borders spread, Chinese state media said on Monday, quoting the country’s Middle East special envoy.
The envoy Zhai Jun said China has delivered and will continue to provide emergency humanitarian aid to Palestinians through the United Nations and via bilateral channels to help ease the humanitarian crisis.
Zhai also said China is keen to do “whatever is conducive” to promote dialogue, reach a ceasefire, and restore peace, as well as to promote the two-state solution, China Central Television said.
China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has deployed six warships in the Middle East, including a guided-missile destroyer, amid escalating tensions in the region because of the ongoing war between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas, reports said.
