The international community must hold Israel accountable for its “blatant violations and crimes in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem,” Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry said in a statement.
The statement came as the Kingdom’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan led a delegation of Arab ministers who began a tour to visit the capital of several permanent members of the UN Security Council.
Foreign ministers from the Arab League – including the Jordanian, Palestinian, and Egyptian ministers – and those from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation are currently in Beijing to discuss the ongoing situation in Gaza.
The tour aims to push for an immediate ceasefire in the besieged enclave, which has seen 45 days of relentless Israeli bombardment.
Israel airstrikes have killed at least 13,000 Palestinians, including at least 5,500 children, since October 7, according to the territory’s government.
“The tour comes to take deterrent measures to stop the crimes of the colonial occupation authorities, and hold them accountable for their crimes in Gaza, Jerusalem, and the West Bank,” the statement said.
The tour also aims to secure urgent relief corridors and launch a serious political process, it added.
