LONDON — Catherine, Princess of Wales visited the University of East London on Wednesday to officially launch Foundations for Life, a new initiative centered on children’s emotional and social wellbeing.
The engagement marked another important public appearance for the Princess of Wales as she continues gradually returning to royal duties following her cancer remission.
Kate meets families and education experts
Photos and videos shared through the official social media account of the Prince and Princess of Wales showed Kate interacting with families, researchers, and education leaders during the visit.
The Princess focused on conversations surrounding the importance of emotional development during early childhood and the long-term impact of supportive relationships.
The social media post stated:
“Connecting with families, researchers and education leaders committed to putting social and emotional development at the heart of early years practice.”
It added, “Because loving, responsive relationships lay the strongest foundations for lifelong health and wellbeing.”
New milestone for Kate’s early childhood work
The launch of Foundations for Life represents another major step in the work led by the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, established by Kate in 2021.
The initiative aims to provide resources and guidance for professionals working with babies, young children, and families.

The Princess has made early childhood development one of the defining causes of her royal role, consistently highlighting the connection between early experiences and lifelong wellbeing.
Royal experts highlight significance of visit
Rebecca English also shared footage from the engagement, describing the initiative as a “pivotal” moment in Kate’s public work.
According to the royal editor, the Princess unveiled a new online resource designed to support everyone involved in caring for young children and families.
Overseas return approaches after cancer remission
The visit comes ahead of Kate Middleton’s expected return to international travel following her cancer remission announcement earlier this year.
The Princess of Wales is reportedly preparing for an upcoming trip to Italy scheduled for May 13 and May 14, marking her first overseas engagement since resuming public duties.
Royal watchers continue to closely follow her recovery and gradual return to the spotlight.
