Prince William has sparked speculation that he intends to break from traditional royal norms after becoming King, with recent comments about the challenges of 2024. According to royal expert Jennie Bond, his candid remarks about this year being the “hardest” due to the health struggles of his wife, Kate Middleton, and his father, King Charles, signal a shift in the monarchy’s approach.
In an interview with OK! Magazine, Bond suggested that William’s openness marks a departure from the typically reserved nature of the royal family. “William’s statement appears to have broken royal tradition, offering a glimpse into a modern monarchy,” she explained.
Bond further noted that William’s words indicate his intention to be a different kind of monarch when the time comes. “It’s the clearest statement so far that William does want to be a different kind of monarch. We have all suggested that this was his intention, but now we have heard it from William himself.”
The royal expert believes that, as King, William will seek to redefine how the monarchy operates, prioritizing personal values over established traditions. “He wants to put his own stamp on how things are done. I think we’ll see a lot less of traditions and a lot less of doing things in a certain way just because that’s how they’ve always been done,” Bond said.
In the interview, Bond commended William for his transparency and forward-thinking approach. “He’s a Prince and will one day be a King of his generation, and that’s exactly what we need. Good on William for saying it so clearly,” she concluded.
As Prince William looks ahead to his future role, his comments suggest that the monarchy may be ready for change under his leadership, reflecting the evolving expectations of both the public and the royal family itself.
