The United Kingdom rolled out the red carpet in spectacular fashion as President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron arrived in London to begin their highly anticipated State Visit. Representing the royal family, Prince William and Princess Kate greeted the French First Couple with warmth and elegance, setting a graceful tone for the diplomatic celebrations ahead.
A Grand Arrival at RAF Northolt
Touching down just after 11:00 a.m. at RAF Northolt, the Macrons were welcomed with full military honors. The King’s Colour Squadron of the Royal Air Force stood proudly in formation, offering a ceremonial Carpet Lining Party that embodied the spirit of British pageantry.
At the foot of the aircraft stairs, the French Ambassador to the UK extended the first formal greeting before introducing the President and First Lady to the Prince and Princess of Wales. With smiles, handshakes, and an air of mutual respect, the meeting symbolized the deep-rooted alliance between France and the United Kingdom.
Honoring Diplomatic Tradition
Following their arrival, the Macrons were introduced to a distinguished list of British dignitaries. Among those present were Sir Kenneth Olisa, the Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London, and Mrs. Kathryn Colvin, representing the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
Also extending their welcome were Sir Mark Rowley, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, and Group Captain Jonathan Hough, RAF Northolt’s Station Commander.

The French couple was then introduced to members of the Royal Escort Suite, who will accompany them throughout the visit. These included Viscount Brookeborough, Lord-in-Waiting, and Dame Menna Rawlings, the UK’s Ambassador to France.
Royal Ceremony at Windsor Castle
The ceremonial proceedings will continue this afternoon, with King Charles III and Queen Camilla officially receiving the French President and First Lady at Windsor Castle. They will be joined by Prince William and Princess Catherine, reinforcing their growing presence as senior royals.
A Royal Salute will echo through Home Park and the Tower of London, while a formal Guard of Honour will await the guests at Windsor Castle’s iconic Quadrangle. To symbolize the historic ties between the two nations, the regimental band will perform both the French and British national anthems.
Strengthening UK-France Relations
This State Visit marks a significant chapter in Anglo-French relations, celebrating decades of friendship, shared values, and diplomatic cooperation. The majestic welcome, led by the Prince and Princess of Wales, highlights the monarchy’s vital role in fostering international goodwill and honoring tradition through modern diplomacy.
