Barcelona Dominates in Women’s Champions League with 7-0 Victory

Barcelona’s Women’s Champions League campaign continues its unstoppable momentum as they secured a convincing 7-0 win against Rosengrad, propelling them directly into the quarterfinals. The reigning champions showcased their prowess, with Salma Paralluelo’s impressive brace playing a pivotal role in their triumph.

The Spanish powerhouse, aiming for their fourth consecutive title, maintained their flawless record in a stellar performance. The match witnessed standout contributions from Keira Walsh and Caroline Hansen, complementing Paralluelo’s exceptional skills.

Barcelona took control early on, securing a 2-0 lead at halftime with goals from Walsh and Hansen. Paralluelo, displaying remarkable talent, netted two goals before the hour mark, sealing Barca’s spot in the quarterfinals. The relentless attack included goals from Claudia Pina, Marta Torrejon, and an unfortunate own goal by Rosengrad’s Jessica Wik.

In other Women’s Champions League action, Lyon secured their quarterfinal spot despite a 2-2 draw against Brann. The eight-time champions initially led 2-0 through goals from Amel Majri and Aga Hegerberg. However, a red card for Lindsey Horan and a late equalizer by Brann’s Signe Gaupset disrupted Lyon’s pursuit of a decisive victory.

Despite the qualification, Lyon’s coach, Sonia Bompastor, expressed disappointment, emphasizing the team’s desire for a more favorable result. Brann’s draw shifted the group dynamics, bringing them closer to securing second place in Group B with a six-point advantage over Slavia Prague and St Poelten.

In a tragic turn of events, a shooting incident in Prague led to the postponement of the Slavia Prague and St Poelten match. The unforeseen circumstances brought the game to a halt as the city mourned the loss of 14 lives.

Earlier in the week, Chelsea secured a 3-1 victory against Hacken, with Sam Kerr finding the net, while Real Madrid faced a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Paris FC, ending their hopes of advancing to the quarterfinals. The Women’s Champions League continues to deliver intense and unpredictable moments as teams vie for the prestigious title.
