On Tuesday, the US Department of Defense reported $400 million in further Kyiv’s security assistance that will include armored vehicles, air defense missiles, and small drones but this time US will aid with its Black Hornet spy drones.

Black Hornet surveillance drones, made by Teledyne FLIR defense, will be included in the aid package of the United States to Ukraine.

Hornet, Norwegian-built, being used in Kyiv, funded by the UK and Norwegian governments, the drone-making company said. FLIR Unmanned Aerial Systems was granted a $93 million agreement in April to deliver small surveillance drones to the US troops.

The aid package of the US to Kyiv includes National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASMS) and Patriot air defense systems, other ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), Stryker Armored Personnel Carriers, and a variety of other missiles and rockets.

The aid is funded using the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA), which allows the president to share articles and assistance from US stocks without congressional approval during an emergency.

The latest aid is the 43rd security package approved by Washington for Kyiv. Since 2022 US provided aid of $43 billion to Ukraine.
