Today, India is celebrating its 77th Independence Day. But India is not the only nation that is celebrating its independence today.
Some countries are celebrating their independence on the 15th of August.
- Afghanistan
Today, the Taliban celebrated two years of independence since the group of Taliban stormed into the Afghan capital, Kabul, and overturned millions of Afghans, making a dilemma for the global community that has since only risen.
- Republic of Congo
Set on Africa’s western coast, this country is also known as Congo-Brazzaville. Initially a French colony, it achieved freedom from France in 1960. Don’t complicate this place with the Democratic Republic of Congo, which is a neighboring country!
- South Korea and North Korea
In 1945, the peninsula of Korea was released from Japanese rule. It was then split into two nations, North Korea and South Korea.
Many nations also celebrate this date as ‘Victory over Japan Day’, to mark Japan’s submission in World War II.
- Bahrain
Today, Bahrain decided to free itself from Iranian and British rule using a United Nations survey. Bahrain’s authentic National Day is marked on December 16, when the nation’s first emir (ruler) took the throne.
