On Thursday, More than hundreds of firefighters in Greece struggled Thursday to achieve the upper hand against wildfires scorching uncontrolled for a sixth day, which caused 20 lives.

A harmful fire continued to burn on Mount Parnitha near Athens, in the biggest forest connecting the capital, risking a national park for a second day.

Yiannis Artopios, a spokesman for the fire department told, ERT, state television that there was an “eruption of fire” in a forest canyon early on Thursday that restored the danger to populated areas.

The largest facade was in the north, where a mega-fire that burst on Saturday near the port city of Alexandroupoli has now created a cooperative front of over 15 kilometers (9 miles).

This week, 19 people’s bodies considered to be migrants, two of them children, were discovered in the area.

The area is a famous entry point for smugglers from Turkey, more deaths are possible to be uncovered among asylum seekers who could not flee the flames, the official warned.

According to meteorologists, the hot and dry states that raise the fire risk will continue until Friday.
