Starbucks has been known to introduce new drinks and flavors in different markets based on local tastes and preferences and now Starbucks launching a new trend, coffee with olive oil called “Oleato coffee.”
Starbucks is debuting a range of olive oil-infused drinks in its 20 Italian stores, with plans to bring the drinks to the UK, Japan later this year.
CEO of Starbucks Howard Schultz said in a statement that, “In both hot and cold coffee beverages, what it produced was an unexpected, velvety, buttery flavor that enhanced the coffee and lingers beautifully on the palate.”
Howard also said, “I was absolutely stunned at the unique flavor and texture created when the Partanna extra virgin olive oil was infused into Starbucks coffee.”
The Oleato olive oil range includes a latte, cold brew and the “Oleato deconstructed”, which pairs espresso with olive oil “infused with a luxurious passionfruit cold foam”.
Starbucks opened its first store in Italy in September 2018, in Milan. However, The opening of Starbucks in Italy, a country with a long and rich coffee culture, was met with some skepticism and criticism. Despite the initial criticism, Starbucks has continued to expand its presence and launched different flavours in Italy.
