Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, opened up about her love for horses during a recent visit to an elementary school in Germany. The 75-year-old royal, who has long been passionate about equestrianism, revealed that she no longer rides, but still owns racehorses.
During her visit to Hamburg, Camilla spoke with young students about her lifelong love of horses. She told them, “I used to have horses I rode but sadly I don’t ride any longer.” When asked if she still had horses, she replied, “I think I’m too old but I have racehorses. Last night I watched on my screen one of the foals being born, which was very exciting.”
Camilla’s love of horses is shared by other members of the royal family, including her mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II. The Duchess has been involved in various equestrian disciplines throughout her life and has owned racehorses for many years.
It was previously reported that Camilla would be listed as a co-owner of the late Queen’s racehorses, alongside her husband, King Charles, who inherited them after his mother’s passing.
Although Camilla no longer rides, she remains connected to horses and the equestrian world through her royal platform. Last month, she presented the trophy to the winning jockey at the Cheltenham Festival, one of the UK’s premier horse racing events.
Camilla’s love of horses has been a constant throughout her life, and she has often spoken about how much joy they bring her. Her emotional reveal during the recent school visit shows that this passion remains as strong as ever, even if she can no longer ride.
