On Tuesday, Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, visits a youth support charity, Streets of Growth, inspired by an American group that she and her husband, Prince William visited in Boston last year.
The 41-year-old headed to east London on Tuesday to visit Streets of Growth, a charity that serves to change the lives of young people.
The organization— which aims to re-engage people aged 15 to 25 who see themselves socially solitary, mocked, or trapped in a cycle of exploitation, brutality, and criminality — was inspired by a visit to Roca in Boston, which Kate and William visited in December in 2022.
There was some harmony to Tuesday morning’s visit, which came as Prince William was out of state promoting his Earthshot Prize in New York City. It marked his first time returning to the United States since the prince and Princess of Wales visited London for the Earthshot Prize awards ceremony last year in December.
Soon after she arrived at the facility in east London, Kate met frontline staff to listen to how Streets of Growth Identifies supports and coaches young people at stake. Many of the staff were one-time young clients who had shifted their own lives around.
Princess Kate also spent time with some of those who have been helped by Streets of Growth. The group facilitates collaborations across the community, including with the police, youth offending teams, social services, schools, and housing associations in the approach.
Since it began in 2001, Streets of Growth has supported more than 5,000 young people. Like Roca in Boston, it uses neuroscience and cognitive talents to better equip practitioners, young people, and their families to break adverse behavior.
