Former actress and current Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has signed with WME (William Morris Endeavor) for representation, according to reports from Variety. The move comes after Markle discussed her aspirations to expand her brand during an interview with the publication in 2022.
Markle, alongside her husband Prince Harry, is the co-founder of the charitable foundation Archewell, which will not be represented by WME. However, the agency will work with Markle on creative ventures and opportunities to further develop her personal brand.
During her conversation with Variety, Markle expressed a desire to explore new creative opportunities, particularly in the realm of romantic comedies. “For scripted, we want to think about how we can evolve from that same space and do something fun,” she said. “It doesn’t always have to be so serious. Like a good rom-com. Don’t we miss them? I miss them so much.”
Markle’s foray into Hollywood began with her role in the USA Network series “Suits,” which she left in 2018 after becoming engaged to Prince Harry. Since then, she has been focused on her royal duties and philanthropic work, including the launch of Archewell and collaborations with various organizations on issues such as mental health and women’s empowerment.
With her new representation, Markle will have the opportunity to further expand her brand and explore new creative avenues. It remains to be seen what projects she may pursue with WME, but fans and supporters will no doubt be eagerly anticipating her next move.
