Prince Harry attended the coronation of his father, King Charles III, on May 6th, 2023. While reports stated that he did not have any interactions with his family after the ceremony, a royal expert has now claimed that he did have a secret meeting with his father.
According to royal expert Nick Bullen, Harry had a conversation with his father the night before the coronation. While there were hopes that Harry would be part of the family celebrations back at the palace, he had plans to catch a plane and return home.
Bullen said, “Until the morning, nobody really knew what Harry’s plans were going to be for that afternoon. I think everybody knew he had a plane to catch. Everybody knew he was intending to get home, but there was hope, I think, that he might be part of some of the family celebrations back at the palace. So, I think that there was a sadness that he wasn’t part of the fuller day, but, you know, they all knew he was gonna get that plane.”
The Duke of Sussex has been residing in the United States with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children, Archie and Lilibet since they stepped down as senior members of the royal family in 2020. However, Harry has made occasional trips back to the United Kingdom for family events, such as the funeral of his grandfather, Prince Philip, in April 2021.
The reported meeting between Harry and his father comes amid ongoing tensions within the royal family, particularly between Harry and his brother, Prince William. Harry and Meghan have been vocal about their struggles with the media and their decision to step back from royal duties, which has caused some tension within the family.
Despite these tensions, the family has come together for important events, such as the coronation of King Charles III. It remains to be seen if Harry will attend any future family events or if the reported meeting with his father will have any impact on their relationship.
